Case study
NFC Summit 2026, Lisbon.
The proof of concept that became Aikebom: an independent concierge for NFC Summit visitors that planned their stay in and around Lisbon — and, when a transit strike hit the day before the doors opened, helped arriving attendees find their way in.
The setup
Most NFC Summit attendees flew into a city they didn’t know. The concierge — which visitors found and used on their own — onboarded each of them in their own language, learned their dates and interests, and built a grounded, day-by-day plan: sessions anchored to the public programme, evenings and day trips filled with real, verified Lisbon venues, all exportable to a share link, PDF or calendar.
The strike
On 3 June — the day before the summit opened, with attendees still flying into Lisbon — a transit strike brought the city to a near standstill. That’s the moment a visitor is most exposed: just landed, no local SIM, no idea the trains aren’t running. A single update flowed to every visitor the concierge was talking to at once — in the chat banner, in the agent’s context so it could advise on alternatives, and in the next morning’s briefing. The same agent that had been recommending dinners was, in each visitor’s language, telling them how to actually get into town.
Why it matters
A push notification from a standard event app goes unopened. A concierge you’re already chatting with, warning you in your own language the morning you land, is a different kind of trust. That live-ops capability is now a standard Aikebom feature an organiser can run from day one — not a lucky improvisation.
